Today, I was planning to do a shoe DIY. Unfortunately, that plan didn’t come to fruition due to my decision to dunk the E6000 (post about that coming soon). To satisfy my shoe longings, I decided to do a web round-up of the best shoe/sandal DIYs instead 🙂
You know what the weird thing is? Growing up, I never got girls who were shoe crazy. (Loved Sex & The City, never got Carrie’s shoe fetish.) Even today, I’d say “I’m not a shoe-a-holic.” However, if you open my boiler closet, there are 50+ shoeboxes… Uh oh. Guess I am a shoe whore after all?! (I have an excuse! Growing up, I had HUGE feet, like size 40-41. In Asia, where most girls are teeny weeny itsy bitsy petite, this made me a bit of a freak and I could never get shoes in my size. Once, I even had to buy a pair of men’s boots! In fact, even when I was shoe-shopping in America, the sales assistant said “One VERY LARGE shoe box please!” 😦 I shrivelled in shame. So, my reasoning is now I suffer from shoe insecurity and whenever I see a pair of comfy/ beautiful shoes in my size I feel like I have to get it! Makes sense, don’t you think? 🙂 )
This is my last shoe haul from Bicester (shamefaced):
Anyway, on to more important matters.
The top sandal DIY would have to be My Little Secret’s Birkenstock DIY make-over!
Why? Simply because I’ve never been a Birkenstock fan but these were so pretty I felt like going out to buy myself a pair! You can view the tutorial here- http://www.mylittlesecrets.ca/diy-gold-leaf-sandals-birkenstock/ – which is also where this lovely photo came from.

The runner-up is A Beautiful Mess’ Espadrilles DIY. For this DIY, you are not just decorating an old pair of shoes, you are actually making your own! How cool is that? View the tutorial (source of lovely picture!) here: http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2015/07/make-your-own-espadrille-sandals.html
Last but not least, there’s HonestlyWTF’s Jimmy Choo tasseled sandal re-creation. I’m starting to feel a bit like an HonestlyWTF regurgitation blog! So far, they’ve been quoted in every Best DIY Round-up that I’ve done! Mind you, this is only my 3rd round-up post…. But their DIYs are just waaay too fabulous!
Photo credit and full DIY tutorial on (this one is easy! Some of their tutorials are too much work!):
So, what do you think? Which is your favourite DIY shoe/ sandal? I’d love to see links to ones that I’ve not included 🙂
